So I have an older friend that lives down the block from me, and he LOVES to bake. I mean whenever I’m talking to him he’s usually on the way to the store to grab ingredients.
Him and I share that common bond, whenever I have some sweets leftover he is the first person I message to come grab them up.
This Peanut Butter Brownie Recipe is one that I had gotten from him some many moons ago and it has always been one of our absolute favorite recipes in the world.
Now we do like us some easy recipes, and using a boxed brownie mix for this Peanut Butter Brownie Recipe is how we are going to roll when it comes to this.
I have nothing against boxed mixes ever, but do like to make things from scratch when I can, but sometimes you just have to go with the tried and true.
Brownies are one of my favorite desserts hands down, I am a chocolate girl at heart and will always choose chocolate desserts above all.
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- Shortcuts are used by using a box brownie mix and a canned frosting to make this recipe super easy.
- The layers of brownie, peanut butter and chocolate really give this just the right amount of delicousness.
- You can absolutely use homemade brownies for this as well as frosting if you like.

Like I said, brownies are one of my favorite things ever, some of my favorites include German Chocolate Cake Brownies, Peanut Butter Slutty Brownies and these Chocolate Chunk Cookie Brownie Bars.
Thees brownies are moist, and the peanut butter layer really adds just enough flavor that you really can’t stop eating them, or maybe that’s just me.
Buuuuut let’s just say they are super addicting and you absolutely cannot get enough.
HOW TO STORE THESE BROWNIES:
These will last stored in an airtight container such as a ziptop bag or Tupperware container for up to 4 days.
These can also be frozen. What I like to do is cut and individually wrap each brownie is Saran Wrap and place in Tupperware container and they should keep for about 3 months.
To defrost, remove the amount you are wanting to eat and let it come to temperature at room temp.
These Peanut Butter Brownies remind me of Reese’s peanut butter cups. The filling mainly is what does it for me. So they could be “Reese’s Brownies” as another name if you’d like.
Chocolate, peanut butter and more chocolate, what more could you really ask for? The fact that they are super simple is the best part.
You absolutely do not have to add the powdered sugar to the top, but it is what we enjoy doing to give it a little offset in color and make them look pretty.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- You can use homemade brownie and frosting recipe if you’d like.
- You do not have to add extra chocolate chips to the batter if you do not want, but highly recommended.
- Make sure to spread the peanut butter filling on when the brownies come out of the oven, the need to be warm to make it easily spreadable.
