Love single serving desserts? Then you will love this Strawberry Mug Cake, with minimal ingredients and about 3 minutes you’ll have this cake to enjoy in no time.

Two Strawberry Mug Cake recipes in clear mugs showing strawberries, topped with whipped cream and strawberry.

I’m a huge lover of single serving desserts. Not everyone likes the same thing and sometimes when you make a larger batch of a dessert not everything gets eaten.

This Strawberry Mug Cake is the perfect single serving dessert with minimal ingredients and time, that is one of my favorite things besides the flavor!

This is a nice vanilla cake with chunks of strawberries mixed in! It is a seriously tasty combination and you are going to want to nuke this up all the time.

I have to admit that this is one of my favorite late night snacks that I throw together more often than not. I just love mug cakes, they are too easy and are just the right amount.

They are also easy to double for someone else if you have a family or a friend who wants one, you can just mix these up in a few mugs and boom desserts for all of you!

Top it all off with some whipped cream, ice cream, strawberries or whatever you’d like and you have yourself one of the easiest desserts ever.

Some of my other favorite strawberry desserts that we have on our site include: Strawberry Mousse, Strawberry Poke Cake and Strawberry Cobbler.

    WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:

    • Pantry staple ingredients help this come together quickly.
    • This is a great recipe for someone learning the concept of baking.
    • You can double or triple this recipe depending on how many you are serving.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE AT BOTTOM):

    Unsalted butter
    Whole milk
    Vanilla extract
    Granulated sugar
    All-purpose flour
    Baking powder
    Salt
    Strawberries
    Whipped cream for serving

Ingredients needed to make a Strawberry Mug Cake.

HOW TO MAKE A STRAWBERRY MUG CAKE, STEP BY STEP:

    1. In a 12 ounce microwave-safe mug, add the butter and microwave until melted.
    2. Stir in the milk, vanilla, and sugar until combined.
    3. Add the flour, baking powder, and salt, stir to combine until there are no dry patches.
    4. Add the strawberries and mix them in.
    5. Microwave on high for 60 seconds. Pause the microwave, this will stop it from spilling over. Microwave on high for 45 more seconds. A butter knife inserted into the center all the way down should come out clean. If there is any batter left on the knife, microwave for an additional 15 seconds.
    6. Let cool to your desired temp and add whipped cream on top for serving.

Step by step photos on how to make a Strawberry Mug Cake.

WHAT SIZE MUG SHOULD I USE?

We used a 12 ounce mug for this recipe. This is what you’ll want to use, this cake will rise over the top in the microwave but then should shrink down slightly.

The 12 ounce mug will then give you room to add your toppings as you wish without having the mug overflow.

    CAN I MAKE OTHER FLAVORS?

Absolutely! Use this as a base recipe for other flavors. Other fruit flavors that would be good, pineapple using drained pineapple tidbits, blueberries, raspberries, chopped peaches, etc.

This is a really great base for a lot of fun flavors, especially fruit but you can also use chocolate chips, nuts, candy pieces, etc if you do not want to use fruit.

CAN I ADD MORE STRAWBERRY FLAVOR?

If you want a little more potent strawberry flavor then just the strawberries themselves in this recipe you can absolutely add 1/2 teaspoon of strawberry extract in this alongside the vanilla.

This will surely amp up the strawberry flavor for you!

    HOW TO STORE:

This can be stored covered at room temperature where it will keep for up to one day. You can reheat it in the microwave just until heated through which will take around 15-30 seconds.

    TIPS AND TRICKS:

    • Chop your strawberries as large or small as you’d want.
    • To add more strawberry flavor add 1/2 teaspoon strawberry extract alongside your vanilla.
    • Top with your favorite toppings such as whipped cream, ice cream, strawberries, strawberry syrup and more.
    • Other varieties can be made, see my ideas above.
    • Make sure you use a 12 ounce mug for this recipe.
    • Easily double this recipe to serve more than one person.
