So we jumped on the Hot Cocoa Bomb train, they are so fun and they come in so many different colors and creations that there is pretty much no end in sight on creativity for these.
These Unicorn Hot Cocoa Bombs we made to specialize in fun parties for kids, as party favors or just because you want to get a little fun and crazy with decorating.
They are a little more elaborate than most that you have come across but taste just the same and are absolutely delicious! If you haven’t invested in a mold yet, I highly encourage you to.
These Hot Cocoa Bombs are not going anywhere anytime soon and you will become completely addicted to making the that hot cocoa will never be the same.
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- With your own creativity you can decorate these how you like.
- We use candy melts which are easy to decorate with.
- Almond bark is used for the shell which gives you the delicious chocolate flavor still.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE BELOW):
Almond bark
Pink candy melts
Teal candy melts
Hot chocolate mix
Unicorn candy toppers
Unicorn sprinkles
Lucky Charm marshmallows
Edible glitter/luster dust
HOW TO MAKE UNICORN HOT COCOA BOMBS STEP BY STEP:
- Melt your white chocolate by using a double boiler or microwaving in a medium microwave safe bowl in 30 second increments until all melted.
- Use a spoon to place a bit of the melted chocolate into each mold. Smooth the chocolate up and around the edges.
- Place in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes to set.
- Spoon a little more chocolate into the hardened chocolate in the mold and spread it around for a second coat. Chill for another 10-15 minutes.
- Carefully remove the chocolate shells from the molds.
- Microwave a small glass plate for 30-45 seconds. Set aside.
- Take a shell and place on the warm plate to smooth the edges. Do this for half of the shells.
- Fill half of the shells with 1 tablespoon of hot chocolate mix, assorted unicorn sprinkles, a pinch of edible glitter and a few marshmallows.
- With the remaining half of the shells take each one and place on the plate to lightly melt the edges. Immediately place the top shell on the filled shell and use your finger to smooth the seam.
- Place your pink candy melts in a small microwave safe bowl and microwave in 30 second intervals stirring in between until melted.Repeat with the teal candy melts.
- Drizzle the pink and teal chocolate over each bomb and immediately decorate with the unicorn candies and sprinkles.
- Serve in a mug, pouring hot milk over the bomb and stirring until completely melted.

I love watching the Hot Cocoa Bombs just melt under the hot milk, I don’t know why but there is something comforting about it, then stirring it all together.

WHAT ARE HOT COCOA BOMBS?
Hot Cocoa Bombs are a chocolate shell made that is made in a silicone mold that is filled with hot chocolate powder and marshmallows brother mix ins.
It is then placed in a mug where you pour hot milk or cream over the top which melts the bomb and you end up with a chocolatey, creamy cup of hot chocolate.
HOW TO STORE:
You can store this Hot Cocoa Bomb Recipe at room temperature in an airtight container in a cool dry place and they will keep for up to 2 weeks.
You can also freeze these if you like, double wrap them in plastic wrap and set them somewhere in the freezer where they won’t get crushed, they should keep for up to 2 months.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- You can use any flavor of chocolate for these that you like.
- Easily double your recipe to create more for gift giving or saving for later.
- You can find all the decorations at your local Walmart and on Amazon.
- Make sure you brush your molds all the way to the top otherwise you will have holes in your bombs.
