Chocolate Chunk Blondies

Chewy, chocolatey and delicious these Chocolate Chunk Blondies are a fun and easy bar recipe that you will want to make over and over again.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 ½ cups light brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 11.5 ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate chunks

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a 9x13 baking dish with parchment paper, set aside.
  • Melt the butter, set it aside to cool slightly as you continue with the next steps.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, and salt, set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet and stir until combined with no dry patches.
  • Add the chocolate chunks and stir them in.
  • Spread the batter into the prepared baking dish top with some more chunks if you’d like.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. The top will appear shiny and set.
  • Place on a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Using the parchment paper to help, lift out the blondies and cut them into bars, and serve.

Notes

  1. Do not skip the step of lining your baking pan with parchment paper, this helps them not stick.
  2. Additional add-ins can be added, see my tips above.
  3. If you want a less brown sugar taste you can reduce the brown sugar by 1/2 cup and replace that with granulated sugar.
  4. Use any of your favorite flavor of chocolate, we used semi-sweet to balance out the sweetness in these.
  5. You can use chocolate chips if you prefer.
