White Almond Texas Sheet Cake

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tspbaking soda
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp almond extract


  • 1/2 cup butter cubed
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 4-1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2-1 tsp almond extract
  • 1 cup sliced almonds


  • Preheat oven to 375 and grease a 15"x10" baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray.
  • In a bowl of a stand mixer mix together flour, sugar, salt, baking soda and baking powder.
  • In a small saucepan, combine butter and water and bring to to a boil until butter is melted then stir into flour mixture.
  • Add in your eggs and sour cream and beat until combined.
  • Pour into prepared pan and bake for about 18-22 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and cool slightly.
  • Meanwhile to make frosting frosting, combine butter and milk in a large saucepan and bring just to a boil until butter is melted, remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar and extract.
  • Spread over cake and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
